Sharing our officers’ journey and the policing experience with the community – that was the goal of the Police Community Roadshow (PCR) 2023, which made a welcome return to the heartlands after five years!
Held on 17–18 June and 24–25 June respectively at One Punggol and Toa Payoh HDB Hub, PCR 2023 was warmly received by visitors who were keen to learn more about how the Singapore Police Force (SPF) keeps Singapore safe and secure.
Engaging the Senses
At PCR 2023, officers were on-hand to share with visitors more about their vital work. Visitors were also able to get up close with the latest Police technologies and vehicles. These included unmanned aerial vehicles, the Next-Generation Fast Response Car and various equipment and gear used by officers.
Among the many visitors were families, children and youths who were making the most of the school holiday period. Those who dressed in blue and posted their experiences on social media with the hashtag #BlueforMATA also stood a chance to redeem an exclusive diecast Police car!
Other highlights of PCR 2023 included stellar performances by the SPF Band and a crowd-pleasing demo by the Police K-9 unit. A friendly tug-of-war showed the crowds that our furry enforcers can play as hard as they work!
Coffee with a Cop
Ever had a question that you really wanted to ask an officer? Here’s your chance to do just that, over a cup of coffee! After undergoing trials in 2022 across three Neighbourhood Police Centres (NPCs), the “Coffee with a Cop” initiative was officially launched at PCR 2023.
The initiative allows Community Policing Unit officers to engage members of the public over a beverage, learn their concerns and share crime prevention advisories. “Coffee with a Cop” sessions will be held monthly from 17 June 2023 onwards at select food and beverage establishments. Look out for updates on the sessions from our NPCs’ social media platforms!
Sharing the Anti-Scam Message
Also taking the spotlight at PCR 2023 at Toa Payoh HDB Hub were the winners of the Anti-Scam Student Champions 2022 video competition. The annual competition gives secondary two students within the jurisdiction of Tanglin Police Division the opportunity to raise awareness of scams by conducting school talks and producing an anti-scam video.
A total of 75 students from 15 schools participated in the competition in 2022. Presenting awards to the top three winners of the competition was Ms Sun Xueling, Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Social and Family Development. Congratulations to our Anti-Scam Student Champions!
