Officers from the Commercial Affairs Department and the seven Police Land Divisions conducted a three-week operation between 24 March 2023 and 14 April 2023. A total of 401 men and 183 women, aged between 16 and 71, are assisting in investigations for their suspected involvement in scams as scammers or money mules. The suspects are believed to be involved in more than 1,900 cases of scams, comprising mainly job scams, fake friend call scams, e-commerce scams, loan scams, Government Officials impersonation scams and internet love scams, where victims reportedly lost over $12.5 million.
