Officers from the Commercial Affairs Department and the seven Police Land Divisions conducted a two-week operation between 9 and 30 December 2022. A total of 311 men and 133 women, aged between 15 and 80, are assisting in investigations for their suspected involvement in scams as scammers or money mules. The suspects are believed to be involved in more than 1,400 cases of scams, comprising mainly phishing scams, loan scams, job scams, e-commerce scams, Government and China Officials impersonation scams and investment scams, where victims reportedly lost over $15.7 million.

These charges were for being concerned in an arrangement to facilitate the retention of Chong Poh Chin’s (“Chong”) benefits from her criminal conduct, while having reasonable grounds to believe that Chong had benefitted from criminal conduct and that the arrangement would facilitate Chong’s retention of her benefits from criminal conduct.
