Following a 10-day enforcement operation conducted between 20 and 30 April 2020 by officers from the Commercial Affairs Department and seven police divisions, 99 men and 51 women, aged between 15 and 62, are currently assisting with investigations for their suspected involvement in scams. The suspects are believed to be involved in 429 cases of scams, comprised of mainly internet love scams, China official impersonation scams, online purchase scams, and loan scams, where victims lost close to $512,000.

Between 1 January and 31 March 2020, the Police received 237 reports of credit-for-sex scams, with a total of more than S$613,000 cheated. The number of cases reported increased by 40.2% and the total amount cheated increased by more than S$211,000, when compared with the same period in 2019.
