Officers from the Commercial Affairs Department and the seven Police Land Divisions conducted a two-week operation between 18 and 31 December 2021. A total of 128 men and 76 women, aged between 16 and 79, are currently assisting in investigations for their suspected involvement in scams as scammers or money mules. The suspects are believed to be involved in more than 1500 cases of scams, comprising mainly of Internet love scams, e-commerce scams, business email compromise scams, tech support scams, China/Government Officials impersonation scams, investment scams, job scams and loan scams, where victims lost more than $6.4 million.

On 18 February 2022, Member of Parliament Ms Sylvia Lim (“Ms Lim”) said in Parliament that she had received a threat warning from Apple informing her that her iPhone could be the subject of hacking by state-sponsored attackers. She had asked for confirmation that she should have no concerns that Singapore Government agencies were trying to hack into her phone. In response, Minister for Home Affairs K Shanmugam confirmed in Parliament that Singapore Government agencies have not hacked into her phone.
