Jurong Police Division and JTC jointly hosted the Cricket Tournament 2018 and Migrant Workers Carnival on 18 November 2018 at Tuas South Recreation Centre. This year, the partner agencies include the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), Ministry of Manpower (MOM), National Environment Agency (NEA), Transient Workers Count Too (TWC2), Humanitarian Organization for Migration Economics (HOME), POSB Bank and SDI Academy. Minister of State, Ministry of National Development and Ministry of Manpower, Mr Zaqy Mohamad graced the event as the guest of honour.
Into its fourth year, the event attracted over 2,000 migrant workers who showed up at the cricket tournament finals to support their favourite teams. Team Dynamac Kings emerged as the champions after winning against team BD Foreigners.
Over at the carnival, migrant workers had the opportunity to participate in interactive games hosted by various agencies at the different booths, where they learnt about important information such as crime prevention messages and their employment rights.
This collaboration with JTC is part of Police’s ongoing efforts to reach out to the migrant worker community through sports, and to raise awareness on crimes and laws in Singapore.
