The Police have arrested seven men, aged between 20 and 42, for their suspected involvement in rioting and rash act.
On 20 December 2020 at about 9.45pm, the Police were alerted to a case of fight between two groups of people at a restaurant along Circular Road. Upon Police’s arrival, two men, aged 24 and 42, were arrested at scene for rash act arising from the earlier fight. The rest of the suspects had fled prior to Police’s arrival. A knife was also seized as case exhibit.
Through follow up investigations and with the aid of images from CCTV cameras, the Police established the identities of five other men, aged 20 and 27, who are believed to be involved in the fight and subsequently arrested them within two hours from the time of report.
The seven men will be charged in court on 22 December 2020. Five men, aged between 20 and 27, will be charged with rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 which carries a jail term of up to seven years and caning. The two other men, aged 24 and 42, will be charged with rash act under Section 336(a) of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to six months, or fine of up to $2,500, or both.

The Police are also appealing for information on the whereabouts of the three persons shown in the images above, to assist with the investigations for the above case. All information received will be kept strictly confidential. The Police would like to remind the public that harbouring fugitives is a serious offence which is punishable with imprisonment and fine.
Police investigations are ongoing. The Police will not tolerate such brazen acts of violence and blatant disregard of the law. We will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.
