When the victim eventually realised that the man is not a police officer, he lodged a Police report on 13 January 2021.
Through investigations, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 15 January 2021.
The man will be charged in court on 16 January 2021 with personating a public servant under Section 170 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence of personating a public servant carries an imprisonment term which may extend to two years, or fine, or both.
The Police would like to remind the public to be vigilant and wary of person who may impersonate as Police officer to facilitate the commission of their criminal acts.
