There has been a change of command in Bedok Police Division on 15 February 2021.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Heng Chih Yang (王济扬) assumed the command of Bedok Police Division on 15 February 2021. He takes over from Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Julius Lim Wei-Yang (林玮扬) who has been appointed as a Director at the Strategy Group, Prime Minister’s Office on the same day. The Strategy Group leads and organises the Public Service to develop and implement the Government's strategic priorities.

DAC Heng, 37, joined the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 2003. He has served 18 years with the SPF and has held several key appointments including Deputy Commander of Clementi Police Division, Deputy Director of the Policy Development Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, Commanding Officer of Police Operations Command Centre, Assistant Director of Future Operations of the Operations Department, Assistant Director of Research, Planning and Organisation Development Division of the Criminal Investigation Department and Head Operations and Training of Bedok Police Division.

AC Lim, 35, who was appointed Commander of Bedok Police Division on 13 May 2019, joined the SPF in 2004. In his 17 years with the SPF, he has held several key appointments including Deputy Commander of Jurong Police Division, Senior Assistant Director of the Joint Operations Group, Ministry of Home Affairs, Head Operations and Training of Tanglin Police Division and Commanding Officer of Choa Chu Kang Neighbourhood Police Centre.

Under AC Lim’s command, Bedok Police Division was awarded the ‘Best Land Division Award’ in 2020. AC Lim led his officers to solve major crimes and combat the rise in scams, while ensuring the smooth conduct of various major public safety and security operations such as the General Election 2020 and COVID-19 related deployments. Under his leadership, Bedok Police Division launched major community initiatives such as the Bedok Youth Carnival to promote Police-community bonds and stronger communities. AC Lim also modernised crime-fighting efforts through the use of technology and analytics, culminating in Bedok Police Division clinching the ‘Most Innovative Unit Award’ in 2020.

Reflecting on his tenure as Commander of Bedok Police Division, AC Lim said, “Beyond Bedok Police Division’s major achievements, it is the daily acts of service and sacrifice of the police officers that I will cherish. From putting themselves in harm’s way to protect the innocent, to caring for the vulnerable with grace and compassion, the men and women of Bedok Police Division have set an example that I have been proud of and that we all can be inspired by. I am also grateful for the support from our network of volunteers, as well as community and strategic partners. Today, thanks to their enduring commitment and cooperation, our neighbourhoods are safer and more secure.”
