There has been a change of command at Bedok Police Division.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Wong Xing Shun Justin (王兴顺) assumed the command of Bedok Police Division on 4 July 2022. AC Wong has taken over from AC Heng Chih Yang (王济扬) who will assume the appointment of Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigation Department on 11 July 2022.
AC Wong, 38, joined the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 2007. He has served 15 years with the SPF and has held several key appointments including Assistant Director of the Major Crime Division in the Criminal Investigation Department, Deputy Director (Homefront Contingencies) of the Joint Operations Group in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Principal Staff Officer to the Commissioner of Police, Head Investigation of Tanglin Police Division and Commanding Officer of Queenstown Neighbourhood Police Centre.
AC Heng, 38, who was appointed Commander of Bedok Police Division on 15 February 2021, joined the SPF in 2003. In his 19 years with the SPF, he has held several key appointments including Deputy Commander of Clementi Police Division, Deputy Director of the Policy Development Division in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Commanding Officer of Police Operations Command Centre, Assistant Director of Future Operations Division of the Operations Department, Assistant Director of Research, Planning and Organisation Development Division at the Criminal Investigation Department and Head Operations and Training of Bedok Police Division.
As Commander of Bedok Police Division, AC Heng led his officers to solve major crimes and roll out campaigns to combat the rise in scams, while ensuring the smooth conduct of various major public safety and security operations such as May Day Rally in 2021 and 2022, the two National Day Parades in 2021 and the Singapore Airshow in 2022. AC Heng also spearheaded the merger of Bedok North and Bedok South Neighbourhood Police Centres to form Bedok Neighbourhood Police Centre, the first of several planned mergers to achieve greater operational efficiency and strengthen outreach and engagement with the community. One area of focus for AC Heng was to deepen the collaboration between Bedok Police Division and other government agencies, despite the challenges brought about by COVID-19, to strengthen law enforcement cooperation and boost community engagement.
Reflecting on his tenure as Commander of Bedok Police Division, AC Heng said, “It has been a privilege to serve Bedok Police Division as Commander. I have been fortunate to work with the excellent officers at Bedok Police Division and witness their daily devotion to duty. The officers’ can-do spirit and commitment to prevent, deter and detect crime are testament to the foundation put in place by the officers who have served in Bedok Police Division, both past and present. I treasure every interaction that I have had with all officers and our partners this past year and a half. I am confident that Bedok Police Division will continue to work together with our partners, community and residents to keep our homes safe and secure.”
