The Singapore Police Force (SPF) held the Police Day Parade 2023 on 3 June 2023 at the Home Team Academy. Mr Lawrence Wong, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Minister for Finance, was the Guest-of-Honour at the parade which saw 650 participants from the various Police divisions, specialist units, Volunteer Special Constabulary, and cadets from the National Police Cadet Corps.

Commemorated annually on 3 June since 1971, Police Day celebrates the SPF’s achievements, recognises the contributions of past and present officers, and brings officers together to renew our pledge to serve Singapore and to carry out our duties with courage, loyalty, integrity, and fairness. This is the second year where the SPF held a physical parade after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Award Presentation

DPM Wong presented awards for the Best Land Division, the Best National Service (NS) Operationally Ready Unit, Best Full-time Police National Service (PNSF) officers and Best Police National Servicemen (PNSmen) of the Year. Please refer to Annex A for the list of award recipients.

DPM Wong shared: “Police Day is a day of special significance as we come together to honour the invaluable contributions of all police officers, past and present, in keeping Singapore safe and secure. The work of a police officer is not easy. Every day, they overcome numerous challenges in order to prevent, deter and detect crime. I thank all police officers for their unwavering courage, dedication and professionalism.”

Best Land Division

Clementi Police Division was awarded the Best Land Division award this year. The Division was also the winner for the Best Land Division last year. Commander of Clementi Police Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Serene Chiu said “I am proud of the Division in maintaining its high standard of operational excellence and professionalism. Above all else, our goal is to safeguard our community to the best of our ability, and I thank our officers for their unwavering efforts through the year. The Division has done well to keep physical crime down in 2022. The total number of five preventable crime cases[1] fell by 11.1% in 2022 when compared to 2021. This achievement is also attributable to the strong partnerships we have forged with our community stakeholders, who actively contribute to creating safer communities. Our crime-fighting journey is a continuous one and we remain steadfast in our commitment to safeguarding Singapore every day.”

Best NS Operationally Ready Unit

Airport Police Division and Jurong Police Division were jointly awarded the Best NS Operationally Ready Unit. NS Commander of Airport Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (NS) Mulyadi Bin Ahmad, said: “This year Airport Police Division (APD) and Jurong Police Division made history by being joint champions. It also marks APD’s second consecutive win. This would not be possible without the collective effort of committed servicemen, and dedicated NS leaders. I would like to dedicate the award to all PNSmen, past and present, for playing a part to ensure our nation remains safe and secure.” NS Commander of Jurong Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (NS) Darric Teo, said: “The neck and neck results demonstrate the strenuous and collaborative efforts by the regular Commanders, Deputy Commanders, NS counterparts and every officer in the unit in achieving significant progress across all levels. This award is a testament to the effective initiatives by the Police National Service Department in engineering an ecosystem where Police National Service can excel and thrive.”
