A 53-year-old man will be charged in court on 23 January 2024 for his suspected involvement in a case of rash act causing hurt.
On 25 September 2023 at 5.14am, the Police were alerted to a case of rash act causing hurt involving the man and a 59-year-old sedan car driver along Lane 1 of Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) towards Changi, near Stevens Road exit. Investigations revealed that the man, who was driving a taxi, was involved in a road traffic accident with a sedan car, whereby the car driver had rear-ended his taxi. A verbal dispute ensued and during the dispute, the man allegedly pushed the car driver, causing him to fall into a drain. The car driver sustained multiple abrasions over his body and was conveyed conscious to the hospital.
The man will be charged with the offence of rash act causing hurt under Section 337(a) of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to one year, a fine or both.
The Police have zero tolerance towards such acts of violence and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
