 The Police have arrested a 22-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of cheating.  

On 16 May 2024, the Police received a report from a pawnshop that a 22-year-old man had allegedly pawned a gold ring for $1050 on 14 May 2024 which was which was believed to be fake due to the low gold density.  

Through follow-up investigations, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 20 May 2024. The purportedly fake gold ring was seized. 

The man will be charged in court on 21 May 2024 with the offence of cheating under section 420 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence of cheating   carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years, and a fine.

The Police take a serious view against any person who may be involved in fraud activities and the perpetrators will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
