The Police have arrested a 27-year-old man and three teenagers, aged between 14 and 17, for their suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft. 

On 18 September 2024 at about 3.45am, the Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking and theft at a pet shop along Changi Road. Birds, cages, and cash, amounting to about $7200 were purportedly stolen. 

Through ground enquires and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identities of the 27-year-old-man and three teenagers and arrested them on 19 September 2024. The birds and cages amounting to about S$7110 were recovered. 

The man and two 17-year-old teenagers, will be charged in Court on 21 September 2024 with the offence of housebreaking and theft under Section 451 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment of up to 10 years and a fine. Police investigations are ongoing for the remaining 14-year-old teenager. 

The Police would like to advise the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and closed-shackle padlocks before leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;

  2. Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in your premises; and

  3. Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor lights and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition.
