Police Advisory On Scams Through Fake Websites And Infographics On Government Payouts

The Police would like to alert members of the public to the resurgence of scams through fake websites and infographics on government cash-like payouts such as Community Development Council (CDC) Vouchers, and cash payouts such as Assurance Package (AP) Cash and Goods and Services Tax Voucher (GSTV) – Cash.

Victims would encounter Instagram accounts featuring infographics that would prompt them to claim their CDC Vouchers through a fake RedeemSG website link. Victims would also encounter Telegram messages containing a Budget 2025 infographic purportedly from the Ministry of Finance (MOF). The message would prompt victims to click on a phishing link to apply for and claim their cash payouts such as AP Cash and GSTV – Cash. Upon clicking these links, victims would be asked to disclose personal information such as banking account details and personal credentials.

Members of the public are reminded to exercise caution when claiming Government payouts. For CDC Vouchers, only one member per household is required to claim the vouchers digitally via Singpass at go.gov.sg/cdcv. You will then receive your household’s unique CDC Voucher link by SMS from “gov.sg”, which can be forwarded to and shared with your family members. No action is required on your part for cash payouts such as AP Cash, which will be automatically paid to eligible citizens via PayNow-NRIC, their bank accounts or GovCash.

For official information and updates on the CDC Vouchers scheme and the AP Cash or GSTV – Cash benefits, please visit vouchers.cdc.gov.sg and https://www.govbenefits.gov.sg  respectively. You will never receive a request to disclose personal or banking credentials, be asked to transfer money, or install mobile applications from unofficial app stores to claim CDC Vouchers or receive any government cash benefits like AP Cash or GSTV – Cash. MOF will only disseminate information through its official MOF channels [1].

The Police would like to advise members of the public to adopt the following precautionary measures to protect themselves from scams:

  1. ADD – Add the ScamShield app to block and filter SMSes. Set up security features (e.g. set up transaction limits for internet banking transactions and credit/debit card transactions, enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), Multifactor Authentication for e-wallets, use the Money Lock feature of your bank to “lock up” a portion of your money so that it cannot be transferred out digitally by anyone, further protecting your savings from scams).

  2. CHECK – Verify the authenticity of the clickable link and check the webpage address for discrepancy. Do not use clickable links provided by unknown persons. The official website to redeem the CDC Vouchers is vouchers.cdc.gov.sg. The official website on Government benefits such as AP Cash or GSTV – Cash is govbenefits.gov.sg. Look out for the “.gov.sg” in URL for Government websites. If the website looks like a Government website but does not contain “.gov.sg”, you can verify it by checking the list of Government associated websites available on gov.sg/trusted-sites. You can also check the legitimacy of suspicious messages, phone numbers and website links via the ScamShield app or website at www.scamshield.gov.sg

  3. TELL – Tell the authorities, family, and friends about scams. Call your bank immediately and make a police report if you think you have fallen victim to a scam.

If you are in doubt, call the 24/7 ScamShield Helpline at 1799 to check. For more information on scams, members of the public can visit scamshield.gov.sg. Fighting scams is a community effort. Together, we can ACT Against Scams to safeguard our community!
