The Police have arrested two men, aged 22 and 27, for their involvement in a case of robbery with hurt.
On 26 April 2025 at about 9pm, the Police were alerted to a case of robbery with hurt along Jalan Besar. Preliminary investigations revealed that a 38-year-old female victim was allegedly assaulted and tied up by the duo before she was purportedly robbed of her two mobile phones, a wallet, a gold chain, a pair of gold earrings and cash amounting to $2000. The victim sustained minor injuries and the duo subsequently fled the scene.
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Central Police Division established the identities of the two men and arrested them within four hours of the report. All the items belonging to the victim were recovered.
The two men will be charged in court on 28 April 2025 with the offence of robbery with hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years, and caning of not less than 12 strokes.
The Police will not tolerate such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law. Members of the public who encounter such cases are advised to remain calm, take note of the physical appearance and distinctive features of the perpetrator, and call for the Police as soon as possible.
