Traffic Police have arrested two men, aged 28 and 39, for driving in an irresponsible manner resulting in an accident.

On 31 March 2015 at about 4.51 pm, Police received a call regarding an accident involving a car and a taxi along the Central Expressway (CTE). Both drivers sustained injuries as a result of the accident and were conveyed to hospital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that prior to the accident, the two cars driven by the two men are believed to have travelled in a reckless manner and at excessive speeds along CTE towards AYE. One of the drivers is suspected to have lost control of his vehicle and had collided into the taxi.

Through follow-up investigations, Traffic Police established the identity of the other car driver. The two car drivers were subsequently arrested on 2 April 2015 and their driving licenses were suspended with immediate effect.

Investigations against the two car drivers for Rash Driving under Section 279 Penal Code, Chapter 224 are ongoing. If convicted, the offender shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to $5,000, or with both.

Traffic Police takes a stern view on such dangerous road behaviour and will not hesitate to take action against errant motorists for endangering their lives and those of other road users.
