Police have arrested two men aged 37 and 51 for their suspected involvement in a series of theft of excavator parts.

In April 2015, several cases of theft of excavator parts were reported at several construction worksites located in Marina Gardens by the Bay, Kallang Airport Way, Sunview Drive and Woodlands Road. The monitor and engine control unit (ECU), were among the things that were reported stolen.

Following the reports, officers from Jurong Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and follow-up investigations leading to the identities of the suspects. The duo was arrested on 15 April 2015 in the vicinity of Lorong 22 Geylang. Preliminary investigations suggested that the duo is believed to be involved in at least four reported cases of similar nature. A total of 11 ECUs with an estimated value of S$122,000 were recovered from the duo’s place of abode.

The duo will be charged in Court on 16 April 2015 for the offence of Theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they face a maximum imprisonment of 3 years, or fine, or both, per charge.
