Police have arrested three men, aged between 23 and 27, for their suspected involvement in a series of shop theft cases.

On 18 May 2015, Police received two reports on cases of shop theft which occurred on 16 May 2015 at a shopping mall along Gateway Drive. Upon receiving the reports, officers from Clementi Police Division carried out intensive ground enquiries and checks in the vicinity. With the aid of CCTV footages retrieved, officers managed to establish the identity of the three suspects and arrested them on 4 June 2015. Police recovered several wallets which are believed to be stolen by the three suspects. The total value of the items recovered is about S$256.00/-.

The suspects will be charged in Court on 6 June 2015 for the offence of Shop Theft with Common Intention, which is punishable under Section 380 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence carries a maximum jail term of seven years’ imprisonment, or fine, or both.
