Police have arrested two men, aged 39 and 53 for their suspected involvement in a case of theft in dwelling.

On 30 May 2015 at about 8.20 pm, Police were alerted to a case of theft in dwelling at a jewellery shop located along New Bridge Road. It was reported that the suspect had entered the shop on the pretext of buying gold chains. The suspect then requested to view two long gold chains worth about $8000. Upon receiving the report, officers from Central Police Division, Geylang and Bukit Merah West Neighbourhood Police Centre carried out extensive ground enquiries and managed to establish the identity of the suspect. The suspect and his accomplice were arrested on 4 June 2015 at Redhill Close and Redhil Lane.

The two suspects will be charged in State Court on 6 June 2015 at 9.0 am for the offence of theft in dwelling with common intention under Section 380 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence carries a maximum jail term of seven years’ imprisonment, or fine, or both.
