Police have arrested five men, aged between 14 to 21, for their suspected involvement in several cases of motorcycle theft.

 

2         Between 20 to 22 June 2015, a total of four motorcycles were reported stolen in the vicinity of York Hill, North Bridge Road and Lavender Street. Officers from Central Police Division conducted extensive investigations and through footage from CCTV cameras, managed to establish the identities of the men. On 22 June 2015, four of the suspects were arrested at the vicinity of French Road and North Bridge Road. The last suspect was arrested on 23 June 2015 at about 3.30am in the vicinity of Kitchener Road. Three of the stolen motorcycles were also recovered. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were involved in several other cases of motorcycle theft island-wide.   

 

3          Four of the suspects will be charged in Court on 24 June 2015 for an offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle with Common Intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code. Investigations into the remaining suspect are ongoing.  If convicted, they each face a maximum jail term of 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine.
