The Commercial Affairs Department has concluded investigations against a 42 year old man who is believed to have carried out unauthorised modification of the contents of subscriber information in relation to the registration of pre-paid SIM cards belonging to three local telecommunications companies, from 2010 to 2012.

 

2.      The suspect will be charged on 26 June 2015 at 2.30pm in Court 26 for 660 counts of the offence under Section 5(1) of the Computer Misuse and Cybersecurity Act.  If convicted, he may be punished with a fine of up to $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of up to three years or to both, for each count of the offence.

 

3.      The Police will not hesitate to take action against persons involved in such illegal acts, and will ensure that they face the full brunt of the law.
