Craft Conveying 36 Illegal Immigrants Intercepted by the Police Coast Guard

The Police Coast Guard’s (PCG) vigilance and swift action resulted in the arrest of 36 illegal immigrants and the seizure of a craft used for smuggling of the illegal immigrants.

 

On 18 July 2015 at about 8.16pm, PCG spotted an unlit craft moving south of Tuas Reclaimed Land, Singapore. PCG immediately alerted the various land and sea resources, and PCG officers intercepted the craft, which had 36 subjects on board. 

 

The 36 subjects comprise 33 males and 3 females aged between 22 and 56. They were arrested for the offence of entering Singapore unlawfully under the Immigration Act (Cap 133). The craft was also seized.

 

Commander of the Police Coast Guard, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Hsu Sin Yun said, "The successful detection and arrest of the 36 subjects is testament to PCG’s resolve to safeguard our territorial waters, despite the challenging nature of our operating terrain.
