Police have arrested two men aged 17 and 19 who are believed to be involved in the theft of a motorcycle.

 

On 30 July 2015 at about 9am, the victim lodged a Police report informing that his motorcycle had been stolen from a multi-storey car park located in the vicinity of Block 431 Yishun Ave 1.

 

Following the report, officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted extensive ground enquires and managed to establish the suspect’s identity. On 31 July 2015, at about 2.30pm, the two suspects were arrested in the vicinity of Block 636 Yishun Street 61.The stolen motorcycle was also recovered on the same day at the same location.

 

The two suspects will be charged in Court on 1 August 2015 for Theft of Motor Vehicle, which carries a maximum jail term of seven years’ imprisonment and shall also be liable to a fine.

 

Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police  Lian Ghim Hua commended the officers’ relentless pursuit of leads which led to the arrest of the suspect. He also advised members of public to stay vigilant and encouraged motorcyclists to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas ;

  2. Install an anti-theft alarm for your vehicle;

  3. Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends; and

  4. Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install suspension guard.
