Police have arrested two men, aged 23 and 24, for their suspected involvement in loansharking activities.

On 4 Aug 2015, Police received a report on loanshark harassment where paint was splashed at the front door and loanshark graffiti scrawled on the wall of a residential unit at Teck Whye Lane. Through extensive ground enquiries and viewing of images from Police Cameras (POLCAMs), officers from Jurong Division arrested the two men at Serangoon Avenue 2 and Champions Way on 10 August 2015. The duo is believed to be involved in other similar cases.

Both suspects will be charged in Court on 12 Aug 2015 under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). Under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010), first time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
