Duo Nabbed For Suspected Involvement In Wholesale Distribution Of Counterfeit Mobile Phone Accessories

Police have arrested two men, aged 24 and 53, for their suspected involvement in the wholesale distribution of counterfeit mobile phone accessories.

On 19 August 2015, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conducted raids at Rochor Road, Jalan Besar and Geylang Road, resulting in the arrests. During the operation which ended yesterday, a total of about 76,200 pieces of trade mark infringing accessories such as phone casings, batteries, power banks, screen protectors, headphones, Bluetooth receivers, speakers and power adapters, with an estimated street value of about S$941,000 were seized.

Investigations against the suspects are ongoing.

Police take a serious view of intellectual property right (IPR) infringements and will not hesitate to take action against perpetrators who showed blatant disregard for our IPR laws.

Persons found guilty of selling or distributing infringing goods with falsely applied trade mark may be fined up to a maximum of $100,000, or an imprisonment term which may extend to five years, or both.
