Police have arrested two men, both aged 17, for suspected involvement in cases of loansharking harassment.

On 6 September 2015 at about 3.20am, officers from the Clementi Division conducted checks on two men behaving suspiciously at Toh Guan Road and found loanshark paraphernalia in their possession. Both men are believed to have committed loanshark harassment at Bukit Panjang by splashing paint on debtor's units and scrawling loanshark-related graffiti on the walls of residential units. They are also believed to be involved in similar cases in Hougang, Ang Mo Kio and Bedok.

The suspects will be charged in Court on 7 September 2015 for loanshark harassment under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). Under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010), first time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
