Police have arrested a 51-year-old man for suspected involvement in a case of Theft in Dwelling.
On 1 October 2015 at about 5.01pm, a victim reported that six boxes of America Silver Eagles coins amounting to US$73,466/- were stolen at 25 Kakit Bukit Road 4. He had earlier engaged a mover company to move his properties including the coins to a warehouse on 19 September 2015. Upon receiving the report, officers from the Central Division conducted extensive investigations to establish the identity of the suspect and arrested him on the same day. Coins amounting to more than US$73,000/- were also recovered.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 3 October 2015 for an offence of Theft in Dwelling under Section 380 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces a maximum jail term of 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine.
