The Singapore Police Force (SPF), in collaboration with Sheng Siong Supermarket, has rolled out the “Shopwatch” CSSP in Sheng Siong Supermarkets islandwide this morning at Sheng Siong Group Ltd Headquarters. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Wilson Lim, Commander of Jurong Division and Mr Lim Hock Chee, CEO of Sheng Siong Supermarket graced the event as the Guests-of-Honour.
In July 2014, Jurong Division and Sheng Siong Supermarket introduced the programme to three of the supermarkets in Woodlands, where staff don bright coloured vests to enhance their presence to deter and detect shop theft. The pilot trial has seen a decline in reported shop theft cases. As part of the continuous effort to tackle shop theft, this initiative has been rolled out to all supermarkets islandwide.
Commander of Jurong Division, AC Wilson Lim said: “We are happy to partner Sheng Siong Supermarket to roll out this programme island-wide. We welcome other retailers to likewise adopt a more proactive approach to deter and prevent shop theft while enhancing their customer shopping experience. We are confident that such strong Police-community partnership will put us in a good stead to curb shop theft.”
