Police have arrested a 54-year-old woman, for suspected involvement in several cases of cheating.
In November 2015, Police received reports of cheating, where individuals were induced to hand over Singapore currency in exchange for foreign currency at attractive exchange rates. Some victims were also offered investment plans with very high returns. The suspect did not deliver on the promises and no monies/returns were received by the victims. The estimated amount involved is approximately S$138,000.
Following the reports, officers from Bedok Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and established the identity of the suspect. The suspect was tracked down and arrested on 20 November 2015.
The suspect will be charged in the Courts on 21 November 2015 for Cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for up to 10 years and fine.
