Police have arrested a 19-year-old man for a case of theft of motorcycle.

On 18 November 2015 at about 9.55 am, Police received a report that a motorcycle had been stolen from a multi-storey carpark at Clementi Ave 4. Following the report, officers from Clementi Division conducted extensive ground enquires and follow-up investigation. On 19 November 2015 at about 5.55 pm, officers arrested the 19 year old suspect at Clementi. The stolen motorcycle was also recovered.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 21 November 2015 for the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle under Section 379A Of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he may face a jail term which may extend to 7 years and shall also be liable to fine.

Police would like to remind motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Park your motor vehicle in well-lit areas;
  2. Remove the ignition key and lock the motor vehicle whenever it is left unattended, even if it is only for short moment;
  3. Use additional locking devices on your motorcycle, such as disc brake locks; and
  4. Install an anti-theft alarm.
