Police have arrested two men, aged 17 and 18 years old, who are suspected to be involved in a case of theft of motorcycle.

On 18 October 2015, the motorcycle owner reported that someone had rode his motorcycle before returning it back to where he had parked it at Taman Jurong housing estate. Following the report, officers from Jurong Division conducted extensive follow-up investigations. Through the review of images from Police cameras (POLCAM) and ground enquiries, the officers managed to establish the identities of the suspects. Both suspects were arrested at Boon lay Way on 24 November 2015 at about 5 pm.

The suspects will be charged in Court on 26 November 2015 for the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle with Common Intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, each face an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to fine.

Police would like to remind motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motor vehicle in well-lit areas;
  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motor vehicle whenever it is left unattended, even if it is only for short moment;
  • Use additional locking devices on your motorcycles, such as disc brake locks; and
  • Install an anti-theft alarm.
