The Police have arrested 11 persons for shop theft at a supermarket along Tampines North Drive 2 in the first week of December 2015.

All the cases took place at the self-checkout counters, where the suspects are believed to have put un-scanned items into plastic bags containing other scanned items. They then only paid for the scanned items but left with the un-scanned items as well.

Police would like to remind the public that shop theft is a serious offence punishable with an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and a fine. Crime does not pay. Anyone thinking of committing such acts is advised to think twice. We will continue to work closely with the retailers including supermarkets to ensure such acts do not go undetected through implementation of various security measures.
