The Home Team Eastern Sector (HTES) and the Singapore Police Force (SPF) organised the Masagos Cup (Futsal Tournament 2016) on Tuesday, 26 January 2016.

The event was held at Kovan Sports Centre and Minister for the Environment and Water Resources; Mr Masagos Zulkifli Bin Masagos Mohamad was the Guest of Honour.

The annual tournament is part of the We Strive programme which offers a platform for Home Team officers to mentor youths from secondary schools in eastern Singapore. The programme covers 3 broad core components (Individual and Peer related Intervention, School and Community related Intervention, Family related Intervention) clocking a total of 52 hours of workshops, interactive and recreational activities.

The tournament aims to harness the exuberance and energy of the youths through sports (e.g. futsal) to instill discipline, confidence and teamwork. These are important values that would help the youths succeed in their future endeavours. Through the tournament, the mentors and youths got to know each other better and built stronger bonds. Please refer to Annex A for photos of the event.

The participants of the tournament included students from secondary schools participating in the We Strive Programme. There are currently 79 youths participating in the programme.
