On 4 May 2016, Police were informed that several unauthorized withdrawals had been made via cloned ATM cards and some of these cloned cards were retained by the ATMs. Officers from Tanglin Division conducted extensive follow up investigations and established the identity of the suspects before arresting them along Coleman Street within 4 hours of the report.

The suspects will be charged in Court on 6 May 2016 with the offence of theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 3 years or a fine, or with both and the offense of dishonestly receiving stolen property under Section 411 of the Penal Code, chapter 224 carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 5 years or a fine, or both.

The Police would like to advise all ATM and credit cards holders to safeguard their cards at crowded places and to be aware of their surroundings.  They are also advised to ensure that their ATM PINs are not exposed to anyone else when making payments using their cards.
