Three men, aged between 24 and 31, will be charged in Court between 9 May and 19 May 2016 for evading road blocks. They were believed to have evaded road blocks conducted between 17 January and 10 April 2016.

 

In 2015, there were 44 reported cases of evasion of road blocks.  Between January to March 2016, 17 such cases have been reported, an increase of 10 cases compared to the same period last year.

 

The Police conduct road blocks to deter and detect crimes. Members of public are advised to cooperate with police officers when approached during road blocks. Any evasion of a road block can potentially cause serious harm to other road users. Any person convicted of Evading a Road Block shall be liable to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or both.
