The Police have arrested three men, aged between 17 to 18, for their suspected involvement in a case of house trespass to commit theft with common intention.

 

On 9 May 2016 at about 12.00 pm, Police received a report of theft at a car showroom located at Leng Kee Road. Four limited edition t-shirts and an umbrella with a total value of S$799/- were stolen from the display cabinet.

 

Through extensive investigative follow-up and with the aid of CCTV footages, officers from Clementi Division managed to trace the three men and arrested them along Bukit Panjang Road on 11 May 2016 at about 10.00 pm. All the missing items were recovered from the suspects.

  

Investigations against the three men are ongoing. The offence of house trespass in order to commit any offence is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 2 years, and a fine; if the offence is intended to commit theft, the term of the imprisonment may be extended to 7 years.

 

Property owners should adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are properly secured with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks;

  2. Keep large sums of cash in banks and expensive jewellery in a safe deposit box;

  3. Install a burglar alarm, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
