The Police have arrested a 31-year-old man believed to be involved in a case of Housebreaking and Theft by Night along Lower Delta Road.
On 14 August 2016 at about 5.00 am, the Police received a report of a break-in at an office located at Blk 1092 Lower Delta Road. Following the report, officers from Clementi Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and follow-up investigations to establish the identity of the suspect, and arrested him along Potong Pasir Avenue 1 on 17 August 2016 at about 6.00 pm.
Investigations are on-going. The offence of Housebreaking and Theft by night under Sec 457 of the penal Code, Chapter 224 is punishable with imprisonment for a term not less than 2 years and not more than 14 years.
The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures against break-ins:

Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks before retiring to bed or when leaving your shop/home unattended, even for a short while;

Refrain from keeping large sums of cash in commercial premises; and

Install a burglar alarm and CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
