A total of 87 people were arrested in Geylang for various offences over a five-day multi-agency joint operation that ended in the early morning of 3 September 2016.
The operation was led by Bedok Police Division and involved enforcement officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, Singapore Customs, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, Central Narcotics Bureau, Urban Redevelopment Authority, Ministry of Manpower, Singapore Civil Defence Force, and Health Sciences Authority. The area of operation included private residential properties as well as hotels and streets in Geylang.
The suspects, comprising 54 males and 33 females, aged between 20 and 56, were arrested for various offences such as involvement in vice, public gaming, drug offences, sale of illegal sexual enhancement products and peddling of contraband cigarettes.
Investigations against the suspects are ongoing.
Commander of Bedok Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police Alvin Moh expressed his appreciation to all the agencies involved for their strong support and commended the officers for their professionalism and excellent teamwork which led to a successful operation.
