The Police have arrested a 23-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of snatch theft along One Raffles Place on 24 September 2016.

 

On 24 September 2016 at about 7.23 am, a 21-year-old woman reported that an unknown man had snatched her handbag and fled.

 

Upon receipt of the report, officers from Central Division conducted extensive investigations and managed to establish the identity of the suspect.  He was subsequently arrested along Bukit Merah Central on 27 September 2016 at about 5.50 pm.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 29 September 2016 with an offence of Snatch Theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term of not less than one year and not more than 7 years, and shall also be liable to caning.
