The Police have arrested two men, aged 24 and 26, in connection to reports lodged regarding compromising photos and videos of unsuspecting female victims being circulated online.

Following the reports lodged, officers from Clementi Division, the Criminal Investigation Department and Police Intelligence Department commenced immediate investigations and conducted protracted enquiries to establish the identities of the suspects. In a coordinated operation mounted on 29 and 30 November 2016, the two suspects were arrested at their residences at the vicinity of Loyang Rise and Segar Road. During the operation, items such as recording devices, mobile phones, hard disks and a computer were also seized as case exhibits.

The two suspects will be charged in Court on 1 December 2016 with the offence of Possession of Obscene Materials under Section 292(1)(a) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 which is punishable on conviction with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months, or with fine, or with both.

Police take a stern view against such acts which invade the privacy of others and will not hesitate to take action against those who commit these crimes. Members of public are advised not to circulate any obscene photos and videos as these may constitute an offence under the law.
