On 17 December 2016, the Police received a report that jewelleries, electronic devices and credit cards had been stolen from a unit along Jalan Lateh.

 

Upon receipt of the report, officers from Ang Mo Kio Division conducted extensive investigations and arrested two suspects, a 32-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, along Geylang Lorong 17 on 12 January 2017.

 

The two suspects will be charged in the Court on 14 January 2017 with an offence of Housebreaking & Theft by Night read with Common Intention under Section 457 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they are liable to an imprisonment term of not less than 2 years and not more than 14 years and shall also be liable to a fine.

 

The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks when leaving your shop unattended, even for a short while;

  • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash in commercial premises; and

  • Install a burglar alarm and CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises, and ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
