A 33-year-old man has been arrested for attempting to bribe three Police Officers. He is also arrested for the offence of drunkenness in public and mischief.

On 14 January 2017 at about 1.40am, Inspector (V) Edmond Lim, Sergeant (V) Lim Hui Hui and Sergeant (V) Tan Yew Sheng Lionel from Tanglin Division were alerted to a case of a man causing public nuisance at Orchard Plaza. When approached by the officers, the man made a dash in the direction of the multi-storey carpark nearby and is believed to have damaged the drop-arm barrier of the carpark in the process. While being detained by the officers after a short chase, the man took out $50 and gestured for officers to release him. The officers rejected the bribe and placed the man under arrest.

Police investigations against the man for drunkenness in public, and mischief are ongoing. The case for attempting to bribe the police officers has been referred to the Corrupt Practices Investigations Bureau (CPIB) for further investigation.
