Enforcement Action Taken against Six Unlicensed Massage Establishments

The Police conducted a series of enforcement operations targeting massage establishments along Upper Serangoon Road between 8 February 2017 and 2 March 2017.

During the operation, six units were found to have conducted business as Massage Establishment without license. A 38-year-old woman was arrested for working without valid work permit under Employment of Foreign Manpower Act while a 42-year-old woman was arrested under the Women’s Charter Act.  

 

Investigations are ongoing. Anyone found operating a massage establishment without a valid license shall be guilty of an offence under Chapter 173 of the Massage Establishment Act and be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $1,000/-. Action may also be taken against landlords for renting out units to operators who operate illegal massage establishments.
