The Police have arrested a 22-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a cheating case.

 

On 6 March 2017, Police received a report from a victim informing that he had been cheated. The victim had offered to sell his ‘Rolex’ watch worth $11,300 on Carousell and the suspect had responded to the offer. After convincing the victim that full payment via iBanking had been made, the victim handed over the watch to the suspect. The victim later only discovered later that no payment had been credited to his account. The suspect also became uncontactable thereafter.

 

Through extensive investigations, officers from Tanglin Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him at Blk 408 Bukit Batok West Avenue 4 on 10 March 2017.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 13 March 2017 with an offence of Cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Any person found guilty of the offence of cheating may be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend up to 10 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
