The Police have arrested 26 women, aged between 19 and 49, for their suspected involvement in vice-related activities during an operation conducted on 10 March 2017. In the four-hour operation, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) carried out enforcement efforts in the vicinity of Orchard Road which resulted in the arrests.
Investigations against the suspects are ongoing. Under the Women’s Charter, any person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of the prostitution of another person, is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years and shall also be liable to a fine not exceeding $10,000.
The Police will continue to take tough enforcement action against vice-related activities and those who engage in such activities will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
