The Police have arrested three men and one woman, aged between 27 and 44, for their suspected involvement in break-ins committed in the Serangoon and Kembangan estates.
On 6 May 2017 about 10.09 pm, a case of break-in was reported along Muswell Hill. The victim discovered that the front sliding door to his home had been forced open and the house was ransacked. However, nothing was found missing.
On 7 May 2017 at about 4.52pm, another case of break-in was reported at Kembangan housing estate. The victim was at home when the four suspects had forcefully entered into the house. However, upon seeing the victim, the suspects immediately fled from the scene.
Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division and Bedok Police Division followed up on the cases swiftly and established the identities of the four suspects with the aid of images from Police cameras. All four suspects were arrested at Tampines Central at about 9pm on 7 May 2017.
Cash in several currencies and denominations were seized for investigations. Preliminary investigation also revealed that they could be involved in other similar cases island wide.
The four suspects will be charged in Court on 9 May 2017 for an offence of Housebreaking By Night under Section 456 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 years and shall also be liable to fine.
