  The Police Coast Guard (PCG) have arrested three men for unlawful entry into Singapore on 14 June 2017.

 

2.         On 14 June 2017 at about 0726hrs, PCG detected and intercepted an unknown craft inside Singapore waters, off Changi. Three men, between the age of 23 and 38, were found with no valid travel documents. A total of 24 duty unpaid cartons and 4 packets of cigarettes were seized. The three men were arrested for unlawful entry into Singapore under the Immigration Act (Chapter 133).

 

3.         Under the Immigration Act (Chapter 133), the penalties for overstaying or illegal entry are a jail term of up to six months plus a minimum of three strokes of the cane, while the penalties for illegal departure is a fine of up to $2,000, a jail term of up to six months, or both.
