Man Arrested For Assaulting, Using Criminal Force And Abusive Language Against Public Servant

The Police have arrested a 60-year-old man for using Criminal Force, assaulting and using abusive language against three National Environmental Agency (NEA) enforcement officers along Arumugam Road.

 

On 19 June 2017 at about 3.30pm, the NEA enforcement officers were carrying out their enforcement rounds at the vicinity of Arumugam Road when they spotted the suspect selling fruits without any valid license.

 

During the engagement, the suspect tried to flee but was stopped. The suspect then punched the first officer and head-butt him and he also spat on the second officer. The suspect also slammed the door of his vehicle against the third officer’s hand, causing injury. Throughout the incident, the accused hurled vulgarities towards the three officers. The suspect was subsequently arrested by officers from Bedok Police Division.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 21 June 2017 with the offence of using Criminal Force against a Public Servant, punishable under Section 353 of the Penal Code. The offence is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 4 years, or with a fine, or with both.
