Man Arrested For Using Criminal Force To Deter An Nea Enforcement Officer From Discharge Of Duty

The Police have arrested a 22-year-old man for using criminal force against an enforcement officer from the National Environment Agency (NEA) on duty at Woodlands Square.

 

On 18 July 2017, two enforcement officers from NEA were conducting enforcement at Woodlands Square where they caught a male Chinese subject throwing litter on the floor. In the course of engagement, the said subject pushed one of the officers and fled.

 

Officers from Jurong Police Division conducted intensive ground enquiry and with the aid of CCTV images, the identity of the suspect was established and he was subsequently arrested on 26 July 2017.

 

Investigations against the suspect are ongoing. Under Section 353 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, whoever using criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to four years, a fine, or both.
